Brief Psychoanalytic Work with Young Black People (ref. D83)
Black and minority ethnic staff are under-represented within Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, particularly in the psychoanalytic psychotherapy field. This course is aimed at black professionals, such as counsellors, therapists, social workers and other practitioners working within mental health or children services.
Who is this course for?
This course is open to counsellors, therapists and other qualified practitioners with some knowledge/experience of working within a psychoanalytical framework.
Content/Teaching components
- Learn about undertaking brief work within a psychoanalytic framework
- Acquire/extend your experience of working therapeutically with young black people and or their families
- Develop a deeper understanding of the clinical issues for black staff working with black clients.
The course involves detailed discussion of clinical work in small seminar groups and where possible seeing clients for 1 hour each week at the Tavistock Centre.
