The Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust Library is a national resource for mental health and welcomes non-members from psychology-related fields wishing to use its resources.
The library offers a number of fee-based services for non-Tavistock researchers, students and practitioners from psychology-related disciplines, ranging from one-off day tickets to annual or life membership.
DAY VISITORS
Day Visitors’ tickets offer reference access to materials and use of computers/audio-visual facilities. Photocopying and printing is charged separately. The fee is £20 per day (£10 for students upon production of valid student ID).
To optimise access to resources, and ensure a member of staff is available to offer assistance, visitors are requested to contact the library a few days in advance to book an appointment. Please email us at library@tavi-port.org or call 0208 938 2520.
Before coming to the library we advise visitors to conduct a literature search and cross-check this with our online catalogue to ensure we hold the resources they need.
The library is open to day visitors as follows:
Academic Term:
Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays 10.00-21.00 and Friday from 10.00-18.00 (last entry 4.30pm).
Vacation:
Monday to Friday between 10.00-17.00 (subject to change, please contact the Library before you plan your visit).
JOINING THE LIBRARY - MEMBERSHIP PACKAGES
Individual Membership
If you work or study in a psychology-related field you are welcome to the library as an external member, either on an annual or life membership basis.
Membership entitles you to:
- full use of the web-based catalogue
- borrowing from our book, e-book and media collections
- access to our print and journals collection
- photocopying facilities at the current rate of 10p per A4 sheet
- use of bibliographic databases and e-journals for private study or research
There is a special discounted annual rate for ex-Trust members (people who have worked or studied at the Trust).
Fees:
£150 per year for annual ex-Trust membership
£140 per year for Members of the Tavistock Society of Psychotherapists
£220 per year for annual external membership
£200 per year for TCCR
£875 for life membership
£530 for fee-paying organisational librarian/designated individual on behalf of their organisation
We offer a number of additional services for our external members, including:
Inter-Library Loans: £10 per item
Postal Loans: £30 per annum
Literature Searches: minimum charge £25 per search
Photocopies of articles by post: £10
